Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding a piano hidden in the attic of her home, and becoming fascinated with the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes urged her to make music as a means of personal growth, rather than to earn money or for an interest. Her parents advised her to compose. Bjork and Leonard Cohen are among her most favored writers. To counter her mother's suggestion that her children ought not to aim to become famous with the songs she writes, but rather realize the importance of themselves and the impact they have on society. She started playing piano at age six and making music when she was 9 years old. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known to her family until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora wasn't a dream. Her only passion is writing music. She believes that music can help people feel more relaxed.
